Kasargod is one of the districts of Kerala. District was formed as a separate district
on 24 May 1984. Kasaragod Town is the administrative headquarters of the district.
Kasaragod is the northern most districts of Kerala and known all over the world
for its coir and hand-loom industries. The district has a coastline of around 29.3
kilometers and the livelihood of Kasaragod people mainly depends on fisheries. The
district is popular for its forts, rivers, hillocks, beaches and shrines here.
The Kasaragod District is uniquely known for its Linguistics Culture and they present the best example for the Linguistic Harmony. It is one among the district to have suffered the hardships due to the use of the pesticide endosulphan. Many Arab travellers who visited Kerala between the 9th and the 14th centuries visited Kasaragod, which was an important trade centre during that period.

the mainland by back waters. It is one of the main tourist spots of the District.
