The Padmanabaswamy temple built in the dravidian style of architecture is one of the attractions of kerala. The Temple has been mentioned in Epics and Puranas. It’s believed that Srimad Bhagavatha says that Balarama visited this Temple, who then bathed in Padmatheertham and made several offerings. It’s also believed that Nammalwar, 9th century poet and one among the 12 Vaishnavite saints of the Alvar tradition, has composed ten hymns in praise of Lord Padmanabha. No one knows who is behind the magnificent sculpture of the Padmanabaswamy or lord Vishu. It’s been run by the trust that is head by the Royal family of Travancore. The Padmanaba swamy temple is one of the richest temples in India. The stunning sculpture of the Lord Vishnu carved in pure gold and studded with exquisite precious stones is a beautiful piece of art work that notches up the glory of the Padmanaba swamy temple.
